Hi Everyone! Sorry I have been out of touch! I"M BACK

Wow, I can't believe how long it's been since I've logged in here...sorry Wael! You know I love the Hapkido network! Lots going on...busy summer/fall.

Back working at the dojang at our new space in Brooklyn, we had to move and it took a few months..

I am now teaching three scheduled classes, 2 adult eve. classes and 1 children's class but fill in all the time when an instructor can't make it! Some days I feel great and others, feel like I need to work so much harder.

Last… Continue

The Joy of Teachng

Some days my personal life seems to bog me down. There are days I just don't do anything right . And  I am made to feel useless. Yesterday was not one of them. Martial arts always lifts my spirits and takes me away from that everyday place.

I usually teach the children's class for the most part. Right now I don't have a scheduled adult class but I tend to cover for people when they are away or don't show up.

Tuesday I was having one of those upsetting days. Wednesday I…

Black Belt Test Three Weeks Away!

   Hi All!

I am training really hard, trying to get all my techniques and forms together. One form that was totally bugging me out is finally learned. All it took was 2 solid hours working it with a great teacher, who is asking nothing for the time she is spending with me, just pass the test. BUSHIDO! Three of us meet on Fridays and work on specific techniques or forms. This has helped a lot. Don't get me wrong , some days I feel totally inadequate. I will do my…

Training Like Crazy, Feel Like I'm Regressing?

Hi Wael and fellow Hapkidoists!

So I am preparing for my Black Belt on May 13th and I am training almost everyday, watching videos of our techniques, teaching and working at the dojang....

And yet, I feel I am not retaining what I am learning. I felt I could have waited for the next test ( a few years) but my Sabumnim wanted me to go for it. I see some of our senior teachers looking at our class of Bodans, and whether they literally say it or you can…

Going For it ( In this case, not the gold) Black Belt

Hi Wael and Everyone at Hapkido Network!                                                                                                       Although the last test that I participated in ( not for rank) left me thinking I shouldn't attempt the Black Belt test this year, I have changed my mind and I will go for it. I have roughly two months to go over all my forms and techniques . I have all my other requirements , such as desk duty, field duty (demos etc.) and plenty of teaching hours.  …

Hey How are you?

There are definitely a lot of techniques in Hapkido. That's perhaps the greatest challenge of the art. It can be daunting... On the other hand, it keeps things interesting. I know many practitioners of other arts who have quit because after practicing for years, they felt there was nothing new to learn. We don't have that problem in Hapkido.

It has always seemed to me like you really enjoy your Hapkido journey. We all have those occasional moments of self-doubt.

Hey, have you ever done any Hapkido influenced art work? It would be interesting to see what your imagination would come up with.
