Happy again!

Okay, okay...I can whine once in a  while...

Last night I returned to Kyosanim's class,  2hrs of extreme torture!  First i emailed her and told her I would not be testing and not to rip into me for forgetting all my techniques. I did tell her that it is her class that I make the most progress. She answered, come to class I will be kind! And she was...

Wednesday nights class focuses on mat work..yikes, not my favorite..but as I am going away I wanted to get some…

I hate being fat!

Have i mentioned that i hate being fat! I know im still drop dead gorgeous but my dobok doesnt fit like it used to.... (maybe it shrank)... I have really noticed this week because im running all the classes everyday and those kids are wearing me out..Like today as ussual all i had on was uniform bottoms and a t-shirt and belt and it looked like someone had poured a bottle of water over my head , I was soaking wet by the end of the kids class and its all due to this extra insulation. No…

Verified-I say not!

in various places I have seen it said that my teacher was a student of Ji. I have long known that he received senior rank from Ji, but that was 8th and 9th and cause Choi was dead.

Of the many senior Korean Hapkido practitioners I have heard to list their training lineage, my teacher is one of the only few to seem to actually know names, not just grandmother or monk so-and-so. But he has said that he has never trained under Ji. They may have worked out together from time to time and…

Happy and Sad!

I have been really busy with my artwork, a lot going on. Also my son just graduated the University of Chicago with a degree in physics! YIKES! And I am preparing to go to Croatia for a month.

The sad thing is , I haven't been training up to my standards and feel like Hapkido is slipping through my fingers... Our school has set a date , suddenly, for the pre-black belt test which is a grueling overnight test given by Kyosanim. I will not have time to train for this as I will be…

Telemarketer conversation

This has absolutely nothing to do with martial arts. I have a Pakistani-British friend, her name is Fozia and she lives in London. She reported the following yesterday, and I found it quite funny:

I received a telephone call from one of those annoying tele sales guys based in India. This was our conversation:

Indian man: (indian accent)  Hello maam, I want to ask you few questions for a home survey, it will take only just 2 minutes.

Me: (eyes rolling) I'm sorry…

feel like my skills are slipping

I have one true inner Demon, thats where if i dont keep working on material I lose it fast, and being only able to work with lower belt ranks as of right now, litteraly feel my knowledge fading away, I have a quote that "your only as good as who you train with" meaning if i tain the lower belts all the time, I am only as good as the lower ranks. I am so ready to get with higher ranking black belts and gain and re-gain some knowledge that has oozed into that deep black hole i call a mind... I…
